COMMENTS for 2009 FESTIVAL
Thanks for a great variety of enjoyable music. Will look forward to better weather in future! Missed out on sessions @ Cranky Charlie's because of venue size.
Didn't go to a lot but what I did hear was great. Grimick needed more CD's cause I missed out. The tango dancing was great - Thanks Ernie + Maria.
Very enjoyable.
Congratulations on an excellent festival.
As an artist (Grimick) I hope we get asked back.
A great weekend. Great Artists!
Awesome, Awesome.. So lovely!! Thanks. Choral workshops. Edit the program a little more carefully forfactual inadequecies and spelling errors. Careful not to put same people on at the same time each day - I know this incredibly difficult.
Some of the retailers seemed unprepared for the influx of visitors - perhaps better preparation in planning would alleviate frustration for patrons. Programme had too many errors - in particular names + background of artists. Overall - excellent!
Had a lot of fun!
Very well organised festivalas well as top-line performers. Good accommodation + food available. Allamar - excellent - very friendly. Will recommend to our friends and return next year - Best of Luck!
Wizard + Oz are AWESOME!!!
Great weekend - well organised, excellent acts - will be back.
There was a great mix of music as well as local talent which was good to see - young performers and old. This was my first time and it was an excellent experience - I will certainly return.
Both guitar + harmonica workshops were great - good opportunity to learn from talented musos.
I had a great time! The venues were good especially the Bogong Hotel + Cranky Charlie's. Keep supporting young talent!
Kim Churchill + Richard Perso are the performers of the future. Their performance at Cranky Charlie's with the support of Phil Manning was wonderful experience. Charming, talented - teenage breath of fresh air. Tell them, support them, bring them back
Limit the admittance to Cranky Charlie's - too man people crowded into what should be an intimate venue. So many talented young artists - Fabulous!! Great work by the volunteers.
Only have chairs not tables at Settlers in main area. Not enough room for everyone to fit, sit + enjoy. Backup location for outdoor stage performances when it rains.
Great event! GreatCaravan Park! Great Friends! (Smiley face)
When we arrived at the dinner dance no one knew the seating plan. A small list was found on the wall but by then people were sitting at tables. A committee member then said who was going to take control. He did not want to!
Very good mix of talent, nice people in a beautiful location. Most enjoyable except the hangovers. Look forward to next year.
I feel cheated only being able to vote for 3 acts as everything I have seen has been top class. Great festival - keep it up!
Fantastic!
It would be good to not have artists who are addicted to a LOUD DRIVING stomp Box through their whole set. The age of the audience is an older demographic + by the time you get on in years relentless stomp boxes get quite boring.
As a local, I was very disappointed to witness people swapping wrist bands. Shame on them! Maybe you could invent a way to stop this. Great event - Congrats to all involved (Smiley face)
Only 1,2 +3? Too many consumate musicians to choose from. Splendid MUSTER - why Festival?
A great festival, it gets better each year. Thank you!
Disappointing to see Shrewd Brass clash with MB Comm Band-many brass players wanted to see them play on Sat. Sad the classical groups were in Tawonga Hall too far to see something new - pleased they were included. Loved Zephyr + the Festival. Thanks.
Fantastic choice of performers - a very high standard. Great venues. A great Festival.
I was a bit embarrassed that Phil Manning had to balance 3 chairs to perform. I liked the idea of having the classical content.
The Festival gets better every year. The addition of classical is great.
So well organised. It all flowed so smoothly. It was easy to move between venues - even when we went out to Tawonga Hall. We've had a great weekend but I would have loved to hear more jazz.
One volunteer (or maybe not) was extremely rude (Settlers on Sat night). Didn't have an armband on at all - was asked to leave as she was sitting on the table my friends and I had booked. Otherwise a great festival. Bring back 2Up.
Excellent but too many groups to see all of them!Cranky Charlie's is not suitable for the more popular groups - no room + too hot. Bluegrass Parkway back so I can see the Radio Show.
Really great festival.
Another great festival, although we only had time for about half the acts. Venues all good except for Cranky Charlie's - far too crowded with the lounges. Rows of chairs next year please. Popular acts should be in Community Centre or Country Club.
Obvoiusly weather was a problem this year - sending some food stall holders home early -food selection was poor. Bogong Hotel too far away for most people - better courtesy travel is required. Couches at Cranky's take too much room - chairs better.
In past years the sound level in the hotels has been excessive - this year I did not attendany hotel events. The Ploughboys at Country Club forced me to leave - they were better at Comm Centre. I certainly will not workin sound levels so high.
My first visit - there will be many more. A great way to spend time with family friends, make new friends and enjoy one's self. Great work.
After 10 years I think the date should be reconsidered. Late April is always a dodgy time. March or even Feb would be superior. A statistical analysis of the last 10 years would probably show 7 wet ones. Music selection great - had a superb time!
What unfortunate weather!
We had a lovely 3 days! Only complaint is we can't see everyone, as we keep hearing from others - we wish we could fit more in. Great work Festival Committee. Thank you from us both.
Amplification on some performances - too loud eg Richard Perso - distorting effect - distracting from otherwise enjoyable performance. Range of music impressive - congrats to Programming. Inclusion of classical - good move. Thanks - back next year.
One of the most memorable Moments of the Festival was the performance of Nerris Egan. There was not a dry eye in the place! I would like to see the time and place of the Anzac Ceremony addded to programme next year.
More jazz please. The blues acts were excellent also the folk acts. Venues very good and well set up.
Every year we enjoy the festival - congratulations to the organisers, every one of the volunteers must be congratuated. They represent our town and do a fantastiv job. Mt Beauty is a wonderful town.
I really enjoyed the whole weekend - atmosphere was great. I will be inviting friends from Melbourne to attend. Well done!
A great festival - keep up the good work - see you next year!
I had a great time - as usual - I enjoyed nearly everything. I bought a few CD's + DVD's. Thanks to all the hard work of committee members, volunteers, sponsors + sound folk. I felt really comfortable in all venues. Thank you one and all.
This was our first Mt Beauty Festival + we'll definitely be back next year - we had an absolutely fantastic time. The incredible talent of the musicians at this festival was awesome!!! Such a beautiful town + location - worth the 4 hr drive! Thank U
Venues need to be signed eg official venue - charlie's was very hard to find - no sign at all.Ticket office open late on Friday - easier for late arrivers - or sell tickets at venues. Shuttle buses between venues - charge $2 per trip - cover costs.
Need more room at venues + perhaps some large marquees for market + outside entertainment area. Contact Hume Event Hire. We have used them before - they provide heating etc too. Thank you.
I enjoyed the music.
First impressions work. Could all the volunteers and committee wear flouro jacket? Pride and accessibility give a very positive vibe. The sound guys have been superb!!
Geat weekend of music - well run + organised
Volume at some venues + with some groups requires 'earmuffs'. That is a pity particularly with the use of classical instruments where extreme amplificiation is not necessary!!
The two young artists were fabulous - Kim Churchill + Richard Perso. Andrew Ferguson + Influence were great. Wizard + Oz are terrific. Enjoyed Phil Manning's blues jam and Tea Dance with Tango. Very grateful to all the organisers (Heart + smiley)
Thank you. Loved the classical. Please can we have comedy and dance troupe (eg from top 20 "So you think you can Dance". Re full venues: more venues, more outdoor/street entertainers plus marquee. Do committee members visit other festivals for ideas?
Need food van outside Cranky Charlie's or chocolate bar at Wine Bar, when you intend to stay at venue most of the day.
Please can we have Kim Churchill and Andrew Ferguson back next year? Comedians, dance troupes and more diverse music genres are very welcome!
If you are going to stick to this date would it be worth having the market/food indoors? If the stadium wasn't a venue could it be used for market/food + fre entertainment. It would also help with artists' CD sales - more people passing the office.
Courtesy Bus - great idea - keep up the fantastic job.
Debriefing with volunteers for feedback/issues. Retain the additional venues for capacity/type. Stop all use of pinball machine at Settlers (disruptive). Evening bar noise excessive at Settlers (again!)
Thank you for another fantastic Music Festival. M3 were sensational! Their harmony, versatility & range of music - a top class act. Congratulations to the local group. Can we have Hey Diddle Fiddle again? Congratulations + thanks 4 wonderful weekend.
Sound levels at Settlers were excessive Fri evening and spoiled the music - forcing me to leave to protect my hearing system from vestibular damage. If I were an organiser I would be concerned about potential law suits. "Classical" was wonderful.

Fabulous effort been put in with preparation + set-up. Thanks!! Relaxed happy atmosphere + the artists seemed to truly enjoy Mt Beauty. Great!
Commendation to volunteers for a great effort, especially for venue decorations + Cranky Charlie's set up!
Maybe include a big band/stage group - from local musicians - Community Band session
Try to put popular artists in larger venues and put them on more often so there are enough seats/room.
Some great bands. Would be good to have websites under profiles so you can buy CD's etc after the event. Young talent such as Richard Perso + Kim were really good. Have more popular artists on in larger venues.
Shen Pangeng was amazing. He allowed me to see that Chines music is not all wailing. The Kammer Ensemble allowed me to almost drown in the music. I love Mozart. What a diverse array of music you provide for us country folk.
As a volunteer I would have liked more information earlier. I believe there was a problem with the mailout. I was surprised to see another MC at the Comm Centre on Sat night - had there been a double booking? Happy 10th anniversary!
Loved it!!
Bring back "Men in Black" appeared in 2007.
Loved it! Gets better every year. The venues look fantastic too! Thanks so much for all your efforts! Roz.
I've enjoyed chatting with locals+ other outdie festival-goers like me as much as I have the music talent. From volunteers (who have been wonderfully laid-back + relaxed) to shopkeepers - you are the backbone of this festival. Thank you one and all!
Great Southern Blues. Great exposure to bands not normally availble to our age group. Loved the brass inclusion. Fabulous new, young acts without head-banging. Fabulous blues session Sat night. Just the best festival - yet keep up the good work!
Would like the program sent earlier if possible.
Loved the feel - loved the rain. Annoyed at hotel patrons talking over quieter acts - the MC needs to remind them to 'hush' PS the loud acts ie 5 pce bands do not have this worry so scheduling can overcome this. Congratulations all!
Outdoor Stage a weather problem - maybe do away with this and have another venue.
Great Festival! Unfortunate weather this year. A suggestion: one really large venue - maybe a licensed marquee as a major stage - still utilise the locals. We'll be back next year - thanks! Hume Event Hire in Albury - worth a call to them.
Well organised and great entertainment makes you feel good. Wonderful!
More country music + more poets
Usual high standard but would like some country music ie Daren Coulson. Saturday ticket rather too expensive but weekend ticket is fine. Just loved the rain!!
Well done, great artists. Opening Night: A very poor address by Festival Director - political - not needed. $ amounts should never be mentioned at ALL. His constant dribble was awful. Have a planned address. The Festival was fantastic.
This is the BEST EVER - such a variety catering to ALL tastes. I stopped going due to a lack of variety and far, far too much amplification. The latter problem still exists! The sound experts say "that;s the way the bands like it" We have to listen.
We enjoyed all the items we saw, it was very hard to choose winners. The venues are always good, and the work by the sound men seems to ad to the good result.
A wonderful, friendly festival. We love coming here albeit a long distance. A great part of the world.
"Great Weekend!" Perhaps kids less than 5 years of age not permitted?? Patrons not to worry about 2 year olds talking through performance. Well done to all!!
Inadequate street lighting in main street. The banner that used to be hung from the lamp posts be brought back again. Really enjoyed the Classical concert - let's have more!!. The gospel music at Club could be extended to not clash with Church times.
Would be nice to be able to buy wrist bands at the venues during the festival. Classical music session was great - but Kammer's half hour bit was too long (Mozart).
Couldn't get in to Bluegrass Parkway on Sat night - suggest more popular acts perform in bigger venues. Poets' breakfast was excellent but where was the breakfast? Suggest a more intimate setting with opportunity to get breakfast.
As we drove from interstat (868km round trip) and had paid in advance, we were disconcerted + inconvenienced to find the Festival office closed for 11/2 hours for the Anzac service. Skeleton staff could have been on duty.
We then made our way to our first performance at Cranky Charlie's,only to find the hall full with no spare seats. It was wrongly advertised with a 200 seat capacity, but was less than half that. A disappointing start - but we enjoyed the show.
Love the festival as all the venues are close together within walking distance, or shuttle bus. Challenge for another festival - bring all the Baylor brothers (Peter, Andy + Donal).
Congratulations on another successful festival. Only "negative" comment is the Settlers Tavern is not ideal. Performers having to compete with noise of drinkers and meals being served.
Keep up the good work!
It is good to have classical musical groups, and of such a high standard. Overall a great few days.
Foos court variety too limited - soup would be good.. Use local business = have outdoor seating instead grassed area. BogongHotel - noisy bar even artists commented. Congratulations on a great festival - you keep going from strength to strength.
The standard gets better each year.Congratulatins to all concerned - the level of professionalism is to be commended. Please remind patrons at hotels to reain quiet during performances Fri night at settlers was annoying for us and rude to performers.
A fun time. Well organised. Many belly laughs. Chamber music was special. An extremely well talented bunch of artists - well done! A microphone would have been useful for Kammer Ensemble.
I was a volunteer. Attach wristband so they can't be reomoved. People are taking them off and sharing with others. They make the excuse that the wrist band is a nuisance.
Don't use the Country Club for the Dance next year.
Wonderful festival. Great line-up and very well run. The volunteers are second to none. Thanks again!
Good variety of artists. Better food stalls than last year - good to see.
Very pleased to see classical added - can have too many guitarists. Delighted to see Bluegrass Parkway again.
Absolutely fantastic. The variety of music and artistry was diverse and entertaining. To hard to find favourites as all were great. Opening speech needs to be prepared with more professional approach. Do not mention sponsor $amounts! (frowney face)
We enjoyed the acts very much, but the market is very disappointing - too much imported rubbish - what is wrong with Australian? The market was great and now it's not.
I would like to see Leal Bragg again - beautiful voice in one so young. Maybe give her more time - half hour too short. She has the capacity to go far. Also letting people into venues earlier as it is cold + wet. Many patrons would appreciate it.
It would be great to be able to buy a pass for an evening to get you into any venue. If unable to attend during the day, it would give you more options. And student prices!
Inclusion of classical good - Tawonga Hall acoustics great - use same venue in future. Morning programmes thinner than previous years? Less workshops this year? Sun am need a little more activity.
Hard to choose the best three acts, as there were at least 3 or 4 more I would like to have chosen. Great Festival!
Great acts. Great organisation. Congratulations.
How about a good tenor singing songs we know or some Irish dancing or a bit of Country + Western.
As usual I loved the festival. There were other acts we would have voted for as well. Violinist was beautiful. Bruce Mathiske was great. Lines in the Sand. Bruce Watson.
As always - a great mix of music. Greatly appreciate the huge effort the community and all involved. It was a huge success, not even the weather dampened the audience's spirits. Look forward to many more.
Generally excellent. Will have to do more than one day next year.
Well done everyone - thanks for all your hard work. Too many to see everyone - enjoyed every item. Impressive young performers Kim Leal Richard and Andrew. Good to have classical at Tawonga. BGP at Crankies Sat too crowded.
Shame about weather - will pray for sunshine next year! If we get the holiday Mon I'll stay another night as will many others. I think it is a fabulous weekend, email me and I'll spread the work amongst my 600 fellow workers!!
Kammer Ensemble missed out on No1 vote as one piece of music was not entertainingas the rest of their set (Fri 4pm). Very proficient musicians and very much appreciated classical being included in programme.
There was a good variety of music. We had a great time. More blues please!
As usual the festival was extremely well run. Everyone should be congratulated. Unfortunately our first venue Country Club - two local women talked through the whole performance - we paid $40 for the priviledge and didn't see or hear much.
A wonderful festival once again with an excellent line-up of artists. Unfortunately some of the late night venues were spoilt by loud, drunken behaviour of just a few. When asked to be quiet they became more offensive. Security didn't seem interested
Festival was absolutly awesome and the volunteers that helped out are much appreciated.
Great weekend. Fabulous performers.
We only attended the Community Centre and Country Club because of the difficulty in finding parking.
High standard of acts, volunteers seemed better equipped, scheduling flowed better - still some improvement needed to match acts with venue types. Introduce "Festival Friend" merchandise. Fantastic job by eveyone - let's keep improving.
Walk-up Bush Poets makes for more variety. More Country Music. Cranky Charlie's too small for major artists - lounge + table took up the room. Sat ticket too expensive to see all artists. We came for whole weekend and $80 was OK.
Mt Beauty - A great place for a music festival. Great organisation. Thanks to Rollo and the wonderful volunters. This is my 10th Festival and I have never been disappointed. Always great acts. I am a long time visitor to Mt Beauty as I am a xc skier. I love this part of the country and I look forward to many more festivals. Congratulations to everyone involved. Sincerely Pat Cooper.
I have only missed one for a family wedding. A good time was had by all, will definetly be back next year. Always love poets.
Another excellent festival and thoproughly enjoyable weekend. "Well done Mt Beauty" - it is one of our favourite events.
We thoroughly enjoyed the 10th Music Festival; an excellent mix of artists! Missing out on Bluegrass Parkway's "Live in 45 Radio Show" - couldn't get into Cranky Charlie's for scheduled show and later advertised show at Country Club was cancelled. Festival closing programmed for 6-7pm on Sunday didn't happen, to the dismay of many in attendance expecting a grand finale!
I was disappointed Bluegrass Parkway was on at Cranky Charlie's which is probably the smallest venue and therefore lots of people missed out on seeing them for one show.
Well done to volunteers + committee for a job well done, thanks! Additional venues + music vastly improved our festival experience, but not having one of those pubs set up for dancing was very disappointing, again. Sorry to say, some volunteers can be rud, rather officious + overbearing. It would be preferred to have some training; both visitors, guests and volunteers are essential + a bit of country friendliness would be nice.
Thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Mount Beauty + the Music Festival. Pity about the rain, but it was very needed and did not spoil our enjoyment of the weekend. Congratulations to Committee and all helpers for a well run festival. Venues were great. The variety of acts was excellent. Must come Thursday night next time. Enjoyed the market also.
Had a great weekend. Venues excellent. Variety + acts excellent.
We rated your festival 9/10. Well done Mt Beauty!! First visit for us + we were very impressed! We attend many festivals throughout Australia each year and your festival was of excellent standard - congratulations to all concerned. The mix of artists for all tastes was refreshing + the classical performers a joy to listen to. Your venues are warm + comfortable + everyone friendly + helpful. We had a wonderful weekend + have already rebookedour accommodation at Allamar Motor Inn for 2010. Thank you to all. Suggestions for artists 'Jason + Chloe' (formerly 'Them not Us'), Judy Small, Pat Drummond, Rose Bygrave, John Ongate. We will be back next year + bring friends.
